3. NATURE OF PHYSICAL PROBLEM SOLVED

By the code COMET, a method has been established to calculate mechanical and thermal stresses in a cross section of fuel element claddings in a vertical pressure tube reactor, taking into account circumferential and radial temperature distributions. Axial charges are evaluated by different schemes, according to the fuel elements structure and the coolant circulation direction.
