3. NATURE OF PHYSICAL PROBLEM SOLVED

ARGO is a one-dimensional (slab, cylinder or sphere), multigroup diffusion code for use in fast reactor criticality and kinetic parameter analysis. Three cross section sets, i.e., JAERI-Fast-Set, ABBN-Set and RCBN-Set, of 25 groups are prepared for the code as its library tapes.

4. METHOD OF SOLUTION

Eigenvalues are computed by ordinary source-iteration techniques with ordinary acceleration methods for convergence.

5. RESTRICTIONS ON THE COMPLEXITY OF THE PROBLEM:  Sphere geometry.

6. TYPICAL RUNNING TIME

A typical calculation in cylinder geometry with 25 groups, 6 regions and 78 mesh points requires about 120 sec running time on the FACOM 230/60.
