3. DESCRIPTION OF PROGRAM OR FUNCTION

MPICH is a portable implementation of the MPI Message Passing Interface standard. A  general-purpose library, it contains routines with which to write message-passing programs for a variety of parallel computers and workstation networks.

4. METHODS

No specific mathematical methods or numerical algorithms are included.

5. RESTRICTIONS ON THE COMPLEXITY OF THE PROBLEM
top ]
6. TYPICAL RUNNING TIME

Execution time depends entirely on the program that uses this library.
top ]
7. UNUSUAL FEATURES

MPI is a specification standard for a  message-passing library. As such, it is expected to become available in non-portable, proprietary versions from vendors.  This implementation, however, will be portable from one parallel environment to another.
