FORMAT: ANISN (using COPYBL to convert from EBCDIC to binary)

NUMBER OF GROUPS:  9 neutron groups from 800 MeV to 50 MeV;
                   21 gamma-ray groups from 14 to 0.01 MeV.

NUCLIDES: H-1, C, O, Al, Si, Fe, Pb;
           W (x-sections only);
           N, Ca (response functions only).

ORIGIN: LANL transport cross sections; ORNL library HILO;
         response functions created by HETC (above 20 MeV),
         and collapsed from MACKLIB-IV (below 20 MeV).

WEIGHTING SPECTRUM:

The energy range of the library, from thermal to 800 MeV is relevant to the solution of shielding, nuclear heating, and other radiation protection problems connected with the accelerator neutron sources e.g. spallation target. The data contains 10 elements of shielding and biological importance. They can easily be implemented to the neutron transport codes like ANISN and DOT by using the activity option.

6. TYPICAL RUNNING TIME:
DLC-0128/01
Tests were performed at the NEA-DB in three different computers:
1) DEC VAX 6000/510 (running OpenVMS 6.0-1;)
2) DEC 3000 Model 300X - Alpha AXP Architecture WS (running DEC
OSF/1 V3.2);
3) PC Brett - Pentium processor , 75 MHz.
Execution times to perform the BCD to binary conversion of LAHIMACK library were:
1) on the DEC VAX 6000/510, about 12 CPU seconds;
2) on DEC 3000 Model 300X, only a few seconds of elapsed time;
3) on the PC, about 32 seconds of elapsed time.

8. RELATED AND AUXILIARY PROGRAMS

COPYBL: to convert the EBCDIC Data  to the ANISN binary format.
The original LAHI library is a combination of the OAK Ridge National Laboratory library HILO and the Los Alamos National Laboratory high energy neutron multigroup library which was further  developed at the Institute of Reactor Development, KFA Juelich GmbH, West Germany, within the Spallation Neutron Source Project. The LAHIMACK version of his library contains, additionally, the multigroup response functions/reaction cross sections, secondary particle production, KERMA factors, etc., obtained from the HETC high energy transport code (thin target option) and from the MACK-IV code from ENDF/B-IV.

The filesize of the multigroup cross-section data library in BCD format is 3.1 Megabyte. The filesize of the corresponding binary version created by the program COPYBL is 0.9 Megabyte. - On the PC-Brett Pentium processor 75 MHz, the filesizes  of the executables of the program COPYBL are: - (1) if using the Lahey F77L/EM-32 compiler and linker and including the stubloader option at linking time (option -STUB RUNB): 278 Kbyte; - (2) if using the Microsoft compiler and linker: 70 Kbyte.
