COVFILS is a 30-Group Covariance Library. It contains neutron cross  sections, and their uncertainties and correlation in multigroup form. These data can be used, in conjunction with sensitivity information, to estimate the data-related uncertainty in calculated integral quantities such as radiation-damage or heating.

4. METHOD OF SOLUTION

COVFILS was obtained by processing evaluations  from ENDF/B-V with ERRORR module of the NJOY nuclear data processing system (LA-9303-M, Vols. 1).The group structure is the Los Alamos 30-group structure which is listed in "File 1" of each multigroup data set in the library.

A few seconds were required to execute the auxiliary retrieval program COVARD on a PC-DELL Optiplex GXM 5100 with base memory 640 Kbyte and extended memory of 32 MByte, equipped with a Pentium processor of 99 MHz.

8. RELATED AND AUXILIARY PROGRAMS

A short retrieval program, COVARD,  and the result of a sample execution of the program are included in  the package. COVARD reads the multigroup cross-section and covariance data in the condensed ENDF-like format of COVILS and transforms the data into engineering format (with zeros present explicitly and groups reordered to the conventional high-to-low order). This version of COVARD retrieves and prints the cross sections and the covariance matrix for a single "wired-in" reaction  pair. The output resulting from executing COVARD, as written with no input required, is included in the code package.

The auxiliary program COVARD was executed on a PC-DELL  equipped with a Pentium processor of 99 MHz under MS-DOS. The Lahey  system F77L/EM-32 compiler Version 5.20 and linker Version 5.10 were used.
