3. DESCRIPTION OF PROGRAM OR FUNCTION

SADDE generates data files for  the CCC-522/VARSKIN code from calculated beta-ray spectra, allowing  users to more readily and accurately calculate beta skin dose.

4. METHOD OF SOLUTION

The first step in determining the scaled absorbed dose distributions for a given isotope is to calculate the  emitted beta-ray spectra. This is accomplished in subroutine BETA of the SADDE program. The calculated spectrum is divided into 150 energy bins and is interpolated to 1500 values using a spline interpolation routine. These are stored in an array in subroutine COMP. The subroutine SADD then uses average energy and COMP to calculate the scaled absorbed dose function.

6. TYPICAL RUNNING TIME

SADDE is interactive. With a math coprocessor, each sample problem required about 2-3 minutes on an IBM PC/XT.

The code was written in FORTRAN 77 and was tested under PC-DOS (IBM PC). AN executable file produced by the MSFORT Version 4.01 compiler is included.
