3. DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM OR FUNCTION

ELPHO reads "collision" tapes which have been generated by HETC and obtain the produced pi-o (-gamma+gamma) and electrons on positrons (source energies for the electromagnetic cascade) from muon decay. It can also consider incident photons, electrons, or positrons.

4. METHOD OF SOLUTION:  Monte Carlo is method used by ELPHO.

5. RESTRICTIONS ON THE COMPLEXITY OF THE PROBLEM

ELPHO is set to handle 2000 incident particles. This number can be changed by altering common specifications as described in the document.

6. TYPICAL RUNNING TIME

The packaged sample problem ran in about 15 minutes on the IBM 360/91.

NEA-DB executed the test case included in this package  on an IBM 3084Q computer in 7.16 minutes of CPU time.
