The third meeting was held on 11-12 September 2003 as a follow-up to the second meeting, which was held in Paris, France on 10-12 October 2001.

Second Information Exchange Meeting on Basic Studies in the Field of High Temperature Engineering

The second meeting was held on 10-12, October 2001. It was a follow-up to the first meeting, which was held in Paris, France on 27-29 September 1999. International collaboration and some topics, recommended for further discussion at the first meeting, were further developed at this meeting. A list of topics is given below. The meeting was devoted to:

• exchanging information on the latest activities for studying high temperature irradiation-induced damage/effects in advanced materials and fuels;
• discussing the possibility of co-operative studies in the field of high temperature engineering using the HTTR and other research reactors for irradiation research programmes in the framework of international co-operation organised by the OECD/NEA/NSC;
• developing a framework of possible international co-operative activities concerning the topics of interest; and
• proposing or recommending the possible co-operative works to be undertaken within a framework or under the auspices of the OECD/NEA/NSC.

First Information Exchange Meeting on Survey on Basic Studies in the Field of High Temperature Engineering

In response to increasing interest in high-temperature, gas-cooled reactors (HTTRs), and the need for improved knowledge of materials for nuclear applications that resist high temperatures, the NEA organised a first information exchange meeting on basic studies in the field of high-temperature engineering. The proceedings of the meeting cover studies on irradiation effects on advanced materials, safety-related behaviour of HTGRs and in-pile reactor instrumentation development. They also include recommendations for further promotion of international collaboration.
