The OECD Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) is organising the twelfth information exchange meeting on actinide and fission product partitioning and transmutation (P&T). The meeting will be held in Prague, Czech Republic from 24 to 27 September 2012, hosted by the Radioactive Waste Repository Authority (RAWRA), and co-sponsored by the European Commission (EC) and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
Partitioning and transmutation (P&T) is one of the key technology for reducing the radiotoxicity and volume of radioactive waste produced. Recent developments indicate the need for embedding P&T strategies into advanced fuel cycles considering both waste management and economic issues.
In order to give experts a forum to present and discuss state-of-the-art developments in the P&T field, the OECD/NEA has been organising biennial information exchange meetings on actinide and fission product partitioning and transmutation since 1990. The previous meetings were held in Mito (Japan) in 1990, at ANL (USA) in 1992, in Cadarache (France) in 1994, in Mito (Japan) in 1996, in Mol (Belgium) in 1998, in Madrid (Spain) in 2000, in Jeju (Korea) in 2002, in Las Vegas (USA) in 2004, in Nîmes (France) in 2006, in Mito (Japan) in 2008 and in San Francisco (USA) in 2010.
The meeting will cover scientific, as well as strategic/policy developments in the field of P&T, such as:
These topics include multi-scale modelling, experiments and instrumentation, novel theories and benchmarks.
The meeting will consist of a plenary session on the first day, followed by technical sessions and a poster session covering above technical subjects.
At the summary session, reviews and findings of each technical session will be presented by the session chairs.
Abstracts of 500 words maximum using “Instruction of authors” should be sent before 15 May 2012 to the Secretariat by means of the “Registration form”. Authors are invited to indicate under which topic (scope above) their paper could be classified and if they would like to have an oral or a poster presentation.
Participants will be informed by 1 July 2012 whether their paper has been accepted. Full papers of accepted abstracts and invited talks must reach the NEA Secretariat in electronic form by 15 September 2012.
Participants planning to attend the meeting without presenting a paper are invited to complete the “Registration form” before 15 September 2012.
No registration fee is required.
