The NEA announces the publication of a new study providing an overview of current legislation governing the peaceful uses of nuclear energy in Central and Eastern European countries and the New Independent States (NIS).

This publication focuses on the institutional and legal frameworks relevant to peaceful uses of nuclear energy, which have been established in some 16 countries in this area.

Information provided includes descriptions of competent nuclear authorities, nuclear legislation in force or at the drafting stage, as well as international agreements on civil liability for nuclear damage and other conventions which have been signed or ratified by the countries under review.

The new NEA publication should be of interest to government, business and industry, as well as academic circles interested in legislative and regulatory developments in this area.
