Welcome to the website of the ad hoc Expert Group on the Projected Costs of Generating Electricity (EGC Expert Group). The OECD Nuclear Energy Agency (OECD/NEA) and the International Energy Agency (IEA) have launched work on the eighth edition of their joint study on electricity generating costs, Projected Costs of Generating Electricity: 2015 Update. The previous seventh edition of the joint study by OECD/NEA and IEA on the comparative costs of baseload power generation, the Projected Costs of Generating Electricity: 2010 Update published in March 2010 was well received, but since 2010, a number of facts and trends in the energy sector have materialised that significantly affect the comparative competitiveness of different options for power generation.
The 2015 update of this large statistical effort will again be accompanied by an international group of experts reporting to the Working Party on Nuclear Energy Economics (WPNE) on the side of the OECD/NEA and to the IEA Standing Group on Long-Term Co-operation (SLT) on the side of the IEA. A first meeting of the EGC Expert Group took place on 15 July 2014. This website serves to pool the information relating to the work of the group. It will host meeting documents (agendas, presentations, summary records, etc.) as well as password protected country folders, which will contain the completed questionnaires as well as the country-specific Excel spreadsheets on the basis of which LCOE generating costs will be calculated.
