Download the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) for your operating system. (Approximate download size : 50 MB).
The latest version is 1.8 (named "Java SE Runtime Environment 8u131").
If you have already a Java Runtime Environment 1.6 or 1.7 installed you can keep it to run JANIS, but it is recommended to upgrade it to the latest version as this will increase security as weel as improve speed, integration and also correct some bugs.
If you have a 64bit operating system you can install both the 32bit and 64bit:
Java Web Start is part of the Java Runtime Environment (see above) and comes with the installation of Java. If you have an old version of Java the Web Start application was maybe not included, you are advised to upgrade your Java installation in that case.
This describes how to enable JavaScript on Netscape and Internet Explorer. If you use other Web browsers, please refer to the manual.
Enable JavaScript in Netscape:
1, Open the 'Edit' menu and choose 'Preferences'.
2, Under the 'Advanced' category, click 'Scripts & Plugins'.
(If no subcategories are visible, double-click 'Advanced' to expand the list.).
3, In the 'Enable JavaScript for' panel, select the 'Navigator' checkbox.
Enable JavaScript in Internet Explorer:
1, Open the 'Tools' menu and choose 'Internet Options'.
2, Under the 'Security' category, click 'Custom Level...'.
3, Go to 'Scripting' and enable 'Active scripting'.
