Publications on sale can be ordered at the OECD bookshop: www.oecd.org/bookshop/. The new service "OECDdirect" is also available. OECDdirect is a free e-mail alerting service offering a choice of 29 thematic areas, including nuclear energy. Subscribers receive notification of new OECD titles on publication, including priority notice of pdf pre-prints (which can be up to six weeks before printed publication). OECDdirect operates a no disclosure policy for subscription details. Online registration can be made at www.oecd.org/OECDdirect.

An expert seminar was held on 14-15 November in Munich reviewing results of the Rasplav project. The project examined the behaviour of the lower head of the reactor pressure vessel during accidents leading to core meltdown. A press communiqué is available at www.oecd-nea.org/general/press/2000/2000-15.html.
Regular features
The list of all nuclear safety documents produced since 1973 by the CSNI is available at www.oecd-nea.org/nsd/docs/indexcsni.html. Documents produced by the CNRA are available at www.oecd-nea.org/nsd/docs/indexcnra.html.
The Steering Group of the Information System on Occupational Exposure (ISOE) - for which the NEA and IAEA serve as a joint secretariat - held its annual meeting on 8-10 November 2000 at the IAEA Headquarters in Vienna. During this meeting, the ISOE Steering Group launched several new programmes and initiatives and approved the ISOE programme for 2001. A topical discussion on Deregulation of the electricity market and its implications on radiation protection in nuclear installations was the highlight of the meeting. For more information, see www.oecd-nea.org/jointproj/isoe.html.
The
NEA programme in the field of nuclear emergency preparedness and management
is currently focusing on preparations for the next International Nuclear Emergency
Exercise, INEX 2000. This will be held at the Gravelines nuclear power plant
in northern France on 22-23 May 2001. At its meeting on 27-28 November, the
INEX 2000 Planning Committee finalised an evaluation procedure for the exercise's
follow-up. For more information, see www.oecd-nea.org/rp/inex/index.html.
The
International Conference on Advanced Monte Carlo for Radiation Physics, Particle
Transport Simulation and Applications (MC2000) was held on 23-26 October. This
was the largest conference on this topic so far. It will have an impact on a
wider and improved utilisation of the Monte Carlo methods in real life applications.
For more information, see www.oecd-nea.org/12-00-ns.html
The final reports of the OECD/NEA - US/NRC PWR Main Steam Line Break Benchmark are being finalised and published. A summary of this activity is now available at www.oecd-nea.org/general/mnb/12-00-ns1.html.
The Expert Group on Organic Ligands within the NEA Thermochemical Database (TDB) project met in Zürich, Switzerland on 13-15 November 2000. The group is reviewing simple organic compounds for nickel, zirconium, selenium, technetium, uranium, neptunium, plutonium, and americium with a view to publishing recommended thermochemical data for these compounds in 2001. For more information about the TDB project, see www.oecd-nea.org/dbtdb.
Dates and topics
of forthcoming training courses can be found at www.oecd-nea.org/databank/training-courses/.
