Reminder: Update from the Thermochemical Database Project
(TDB):
As part of Phase II of the NEA Thermochemical Database Project (TDB), a
new
publication entitled Update on the Chemical Thermodynamics of Uranium,
Neptunium,
Plutonium, Americium and Technetium and authored by Robert Guillaumont,
Thomas
Fanghänel, Jean Fuger, Ingmar Grenthe, Volker Neck, Donald A.
Palmer
and Malcom H. Rand, was published by Elsevier in 2003. As a consequence
of
this new TDB Review, some of the values selected in earlier
publications
(1992 for Uranium and 1995 for Americium) have been superseded while
others
retain their validity. The 2003 Update is self-contained with respect
to any
new data selections but the discussions leading to the retained
selections
can in most cases only be found in the 1992 and 1995 publications.
Since the
latter are no longer available from its original publisher, the NEA is
making
the following reprints available to the scientific community:
* Reprint of the 1992 "Chemical Thermodynamics of Uranium" by Ingmar
Grenthe,
Jean Fuger, Rudy J.M. Konings, Robert J. Lemire, Anthony B. Muller,
Chinh
Nguyen-Trung and Hans Wanner.
* Reprint of the 1995 edition of "Chemical Thermodynamics of Americium"
by
Robert J. Silva, Giovanni Bidoglio, Malcom H. Rand, Piotr B. Robouch,
Hans Wanner and Ignasi Puigdomenech, which also contains an Appendix on
the "Chemical Thermodynamics of Uranium" by Ingmar Grenthe, M.C. Amaia
Sandino, Ignasi Puidomenech
and Malcom H. Rand.
These two reprints contain therefore information that is superseded in
part
by the 2003 Update. In particular, the Tables of Selected values
included
in these earlier TDB Reviews are outdated and should be replaced by
those
contained in the 2003 Update.

projects
operated under the auspices of the Committee on the Safety of Nuclear
Installations
(CSNI) have been added to the Data Bank. (These comprise the CABRI REPNa
series , the SETH Project and the PSB-VVER
Project ). These data are subject to restrictions for
their distribution at this stage. The reports and data from the RASPLAV
project are now available to organisations from OECD member
countries and from the
Russian Federation
